Wild Slice closes in Roswell

A pizzeria known for its family-friendly atmosphere and jumbo slices has closed in Roswell.

Wild Slice — A Family Pizzeria, announced the closure on its Facebook page:

“Our pizza hearts are saddened to share that Wild Slice Pizzeria has closed its doors in Roswell. Thank you to everyone who helped us make our dreams a reality, helped us to serve amazing pizza, and helped us to serve our community. We are truly blessed by the love and support we have been shown by customers, local businesses and schools. Our hope is that this is not goodbye forever. We will be taking some time as a family to cope and plan our next moves. We want to continue to serve our community in anyway that we can and will continue to be available to do so. We were blessed with an amazing team that have supported us till the end, even showing up the next day just to help and say thank you. As we close our doors, our heads are held high and we just want to say, for the love of pizza dip your crust in the honey!”

Mike and Cristy Thomas opened the restaurant in early 2018 at 580 E. Crossville Road, with a menu featuring made-to-order pizzas (including the popular $28, 24-inch Wild Slice), baked sandwiches, paninis, pastas, salads and gluten-free options. All items were offered in kid-sized portions at half the price. Wild Slice “put equally as much thought into the kids as the adults,” according to its website.

Mike Thomas said the plan is to reopen in a different location this year. While he initially opened the restaurant without investors and “had great progress,” he wasn’t able to sustain the Roswell location without moving forward without an investor who fell through.

“Wild Slice isn’t dead, the Roswell location is dead,” he said, adding he plans to operate food trucks and pop-ups at other local pizzerias “to keep the brand fresh and top of mind” while next steps for a brick-and-mortar are explored.
