Randy Redner, the president and CEO of the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, will step down later this year.

Under Redner’s leadership, the Duluth-based organization has given away more than $20 million in the last three years, an announcement from the group said. Redner became the Community Foundation’s executive director in 2015.

Redner helped launch initiatives targeting food insecurity, early learning, health care and homelessness for the Community Foundation. He also added more than 100 new funds since 2017 and grew the group’s assets under management to more than $51 million.

“Randy is one of the most effective leaders I have ever known,” Dick LoPresti, the Community Foundation’s board chair, said in a statement. “With a small but dedicated staff, he has transformed the role the Community Foundation plays in addressing the needs in our community. From educating our nonprofit leaders to guiding our fundholders through a ‘journey of generosity’ to collaborating with United Way and Gwinnett Coalition to address specific community needs, he has had a huge, positive impact on our community.”

The Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia was created in 1985 to disburse charitable funds across Gwinnett County. Since then, it has distributed more than $80 million to nonprofits.

Redner said he will stay on to ensure a smooth transition for the next CEO. He called the job “a great ride” and said in a statement he’s leaving the position to spend more time with his family.
