1 TENNIS: Top-ranked Novak Djokovic was scarcely troubled as he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 6-4 Saturday to win the Dubai Championsh­ips for the fifth time. Djokovic maintained his unbeaten start to the year, having won the inaugural ATP Cup with Serbia and clinching a record-extending eighth Australian Open title. Djokovic’s 79th career title moves him five behind Rafael Nadal.

2 TENNIS: Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus won the sixth title of her career with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Petra Kvitova in the Qatar Open final on Saturday. The 21-yearold Sabalenka needed less than 75 minutes to complete the win, sending down seven aces and hitting 21 winners in clinching her third title in six months.

3 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Michigan State hired Scottie Hazelton as defensive coordinato­r, rounding out new coach Mel Tucker’s full-time assistant coaching staff. Hazelton spent last season as defensive coordinato­r and linebacker­s coach at Kansas State. Mike Tressel, Michigan State’s previous defensive coordinato­r under coach Mark Dantonio, remains on staff, but his role has not been announced.

4 GOLF: Joost Luiten was part of a six-way tie for the lead after the third round of the Oman Open as the Dutchman looks to win on the European Tour for the second time in three years. Luiten shot a bogeyfree 5-under 67 and was on 11 under overall with South African Brandon Stone (67), England’s Callum Shinkwin (66), Rasmus Hojgaard of Denmark (70) and Finland’s Sami Valimaki (64) and Mikko Korhonen (65).

5 SOCCER: Chelsea won the Women’s League Cup in England for the first time as Bethany England scored an injury-time goal to beat Arsenal 2-1 in the final in Nottingham. Arsenal suffered a second successive final defeat.
