ATHENS— With some of the SEC’s more prolific scorers on the floor, it was Georgia’s Tyree Crump who made the biggest basket of the night. His 3-pointer provided the edge the Bulldogs needed to hang on for a 99-89 win against Arkansas on Saturday at Stegeman Coliseum.

Georg i a’s Anthony Edwards and the Razorbacks’ Isaiah Joe and Mason Jones preserved their reputations as future NBA players, as each scored 26 points. But the last three of Crump’s 14 points were the most critical for assuring a Bulldogs victory.

Georgia, which led by 18 points in the fifirst half, had watched Arkansas whittle that margin to a singlepoint in the fifinal two minutes.

But after a Rayshaun Hammonds layup got the Bulldogs back up by three, a

Jones miss anda Jordan Harris rebound gave Georgia possession again.

This time Crump did what he does best — he buried a 3- point shot to give the Bulldogs a 90-84 lead with 1:35 to play. He fifinished with 14 points, all coming in the second half.

That would be all the margin Georgia needed, and Edwards closed it from there. The dynamic freshman known as Ant Man scored the Bulldogs’ last nine points.

It was a costly loss for the Razorbacks, who have been hot of late and eyeing potential play for the postseason. Instead, they fall to 18-11 overall and 6-10 in SEC play.

The Bulldogs, who set a single-season attendance record with another sellout crowd, improved to 15-14 and 5-11 in SEC play.

They’re 11-5 this season at Stegeman Coliseum.
