1 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Nevada coach Jay Norvell (18-20 overall in three seasons) received a new five-year contract that runs through the 2024 season. He’s coming off back-to-back winning seasons and consecutiv­e bowl appearance­s after going 3-9 in his first year. The contract includes a base salary and compensati­on totaling $625,000 per season, plus supplement­al bonuses.

2 PRO FOOTBALL: Bills defensive coordinato­r Leslie Frazier added assistant head coach to his job title, underscori­ng his role as one of coach Sean McDermott’s most trusted advisers. Frazier, 60, has 22 seasons of NFL coaching experience, including three-plusyears as head coach of the Vikings.

3 PRO SOCCER: Manchester City stayed on course to retain the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over secondtier Sheffield Wednesday, reaching the quarterfin­als, while Leicester beat Birmingham by the same score. It was City’s fifth straight win, with the last four coming in four different competitio­ns, including the League Cup final victory over Aston Villa on Sunday.

4 PRO SOCCER: Retirement did not last long for ex-U.S. national team goalkeeper Tim Howard, who will play for the United Soccer League team that he co-owns. The former Everton standout, 40, said he will be on the field this season for Memphis in the second-tier USL League Championsh­ip, pending league and U.S. Soccer Federation approval. He retired last October at the end of the MLS season, his last with the Colorado Rapids.

5 SOCCER: Former FIFA Council member Kwesi Nyantakyi, who was banned from soccer for life by FIFA in 2018 for bribery and corruption, was charged with fraud and corruption in a criminal court in Ghana after he was caught in an undercover media sting accepting an alleged bribe of $65,000. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered to reappear at court on March 25.
