1 SOCCER: Former soccer star Ronaldinho has been detained by Paraguayan police for allegedly entering the country with a falsified passport. Police raided the Brazil star’s hotel room Wednesday night and prosecutor­s said they found Paraguayan passports that had been falsified with data of Ronaldinho and his brother.

2 RUGBY: Italy’s Six Nations rugby match against England next week was postponed Thursday because of the virus outbreak in the country. Italy’s visit to Ireland in Dublin scheduled for this Saturday was already postponed, but tournament organizers insisted all of the remaining matches in the last two rounds were going ahead as scheduled.

3 BASEBALL: Major League Baseball has proposed banning player access to video during games, according to New York Yankees pitcher Zack Britton, but the union wants to allow it with protection­s that would prevent catchers’ signs from being visible.

4 HORSE RACING: The Breeders’ Cup is increasing purses for three of its races, including a $1 million boost that will make the signature Classic worth $7 million starting with this year’s event at Keeneland. The board of directors approved a $2 million boost that will make the Turf worth a total purse of $6 million and a $1 million increase to the Dirt Mile that will raise its purse to $2 million.

5 SOCCER: Pele is in hospital for what he says are two days of routine physical exams. “I hope to be back home tomorrow and starting my physical therapy. All is good, thank God,” the 79-year-old Pele wrote on social media late Wednesday. The soccer great has suffered with mobility problems since a failed hip replacemen­t surgery in 2012.
