1 BASEBALL: The Brewers signed Christian Yelich, the former NL Most Valuable Player, to a nineyear contract running through the 2028 season with a mutual option for 2029. Terms weren’t disclosed . ... Pitcher Freddy Peralta gets a signing bonus of $1,174,800 as part of his $15.5 million, five-year contract with the Brewers, a deal with two club options that could be worth $30 million over seven seasons.

BASEBALL: The Chicago White 2 Sox announced their $70 million, five-year contract with Yoan Moncada on Friday, He gets a $4 million signing bonus, payable in equal installmen­ts each Nov. 15 from 2020-23, and salaries of $1 million this year, $6 million in 2021, $13 million in 2022, $17 million in 2023 and $24 million in 2024.

BASEBALL: Arizona 3 Diamondbac­ks infielder Domingo Leyba has been suspended 80 games for a violation of baseball’s performanc­e-enhancing drug program. Major League Baseball said Friday that Leyba had tested positive for Boldenone, an anabolic steroid.

4 PRO FOOTBALL: Austin Ekeler’s breakout season with the Los Angeles Chargers has resulted in a contract extension. The running back agreed to a four-year deal with the Chargers worth $24.5 million, including $15 million guaranteed. Ekeler was slated to become a restricted free agent when the new league year starts on March 18. It also means that running back Melvin Gordon is unlikely to re-sign.

5 AUTO RACING: NASCAR points leader Ryan Blaney was rewarded Friday when Team Penske announced it had agreed to a multiyear extension with the 26-year-old driver. He would have been a free agent at the end of the season.
