Domingo steps away: Spanish tenor Plácido Domingo, who is ensnared in allegation­s of sexual misconduct, has withdrawn from this summer’s production of Don Carlo at London’s Royal Opera House. The Royal Opera House said in a statement Friday it had been mutually agreed with Domingo that he will not be taking up his role in the Giuseppe Verdi classic in July.

Alabama execution: A man convicted as an accomplice in the 2004 killings of three police officers in Alabama who were shot by another man was executed Thursday evening. Inmate Nathaniel Woods, 43, was pronounced dead at 9:01 p.m. CST Thursday following a lethal injection at the state prison in Atmore.

Barr criticized: A federal judge in the District of Columbia sharply criticized Attorney General William Barr on Thursday for a “lack of candor,” questionin­g the truthfulne­ss of the nation’s top lawyer in his handling of last year’s report by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Border patrols: The U.S. government says it is sending 160 military police and engineers to two official border crossings to deal with asylum seekers in case a federal appeals court strikes down one of the Trump administra­tion’s key policies. Senior Customs and Border Protection officials said Friday that active duty personnel will be in place by today at ports of entry in El Paso and San Diego. They’ll also send aviation support.

Suicide attack: Two suicide bombers blew themselves up near the U.S. Embassy in Tunis on Friday, killing one police officer and injuring four more along with one civilian, according to officials, in the most serious attack to hit Tunisia in recent months.
