Buyer’s Edge Where can I find it?

- By Sabine Morrow

Q: I am having a hard time finding a fix-it shop to rewire a leaded glass desk lamp. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks. — Melinda Day, Marietta

A: Melinda, check out Sandy Springs Lighting Center, 6518-1 Roswell Rd., Sandy Springs, 404250-0931. The company has been selling and repairing light fixtures since 1988. Along with rewiring, services include fixing broken switches and sockets, building custom lamps from your memorabilia, including wine bottles, and chandelier cleaning. The shop also stocks a slew of lamp parts, including candle covers, hard-to-find bulbs, dimmers and shades. For more information and a tour of the store, go to the website at sandyspringslighting.com.

Q: For years, my mother has been using Lotil original hand cream for dry skin. It’s the one in the jar, and not the tube. I would buy it on Amazon, but it’s no longer available. Can you please find another source for me? My mother would be so happy. Thank you. — L. Bennet, email

A: Lotil, produced in England for Fenton Pharmaceutical, has been around for over a century. The all-purpose moisturizer contains lanolin and comes in a 3.8ounce jar. You can order the cream for your mother for $17.95 through vermontcountrystore.com.

Q: I hope you can help me with something. I have an old West Bend percolator that I got as a wedding present many years ago. I used it for a long time, but I’ve had it packed away because we started using a drip coffee maker and then we moved on to single-cup coffee. I haven’t had a really hot cup of coffee since. I went to get my percolator, but the plug on the cord had one bent prong. I tried to straighten it, but I ended up breaking it. It was a plug with two prongs, not three. Do you think you could find a place where I could order a replacement cord? The model number for the coffee pot is 54159, and the cord number is P193-74. The pot is still in very good condition. I looked, but West Bend no longer stocks this part. Thank you for helping with this request. — Maria Garcia, email

A: Maria, your percolator will be bubbling away in no time after you order a replacement cord from thepartsbiz.com. This is not a West Bend product, but the two-prong cord, which measures 6 feet long, is billed as a replacement or aftermarket part for West Bend P193-74 cord. This cord fits a variety of West Bend percolators, including yours. The cord sells for $8.54, including shipping. To find the item when you get on the site’s home page, scroll to the bottom of the far left column and click on “Small appliance parts.”
