PRO FOOTBALL:

The Steelers are holding back a portion of their ticket inventory for the 2020 season to be ready in case social distancing measures are required. Individual game tickets went on sale Friday. Team spokesman Burt Lauten says the club withheld 50% of the allotment as a “proactive” measure should the NFL use social distancing guidelines.

AUTO RACING:

The World of Outlaws raced in front of live fans — though attendance was greatly capped because of the coronaviru­s pandemic — for the first time in months at a Sprint Car event in Peavley, Missouri. On Friday night at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway, Brad Sweet edged brother-in-law Kyle Larson – back in his beloved dirt cars after losing his NASCAR Cup ride for using a racial slur — by 0.189 seconds in the 30-lap feature.

PRO BASKETBALL:

Wizards point guard John Wall is starting the “202 Assist” program to help with paying rent for people in the nation’s capital affected by the pandemic. The John Wall Family Foundation set a goal of raising $300,000 over the next month. The program is named for Washington’s area code and will work with the city to find those in need and disperse funds.

TENNIS:

Novak Djokovic is planning a series of tournament­s in the Balkan region while the sport is suspended. The topranked player’s media team says the Adria Tour will start in Belgrade on June 13 and end July 5 with Djokovic’s exhibition match against Bosnian player Damir Dzumhur in Sarajevo. Djokovic will play in all of the roundrobin tournament­s. The other participan­ts include Dominic Thiem and Grigor Dimitrov.

OBITUARY:

Luigi Simoni, a former Inter Milan coach who led the Italian team to the UEFA Cup title in 1998, died Friday. He was 81. Simoni had been hospitaliz­ed since suffering a stroke last July.
