Schools share resources for mental health support

To help its stakeholde­rs cope with the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Fayette County Public Schools has posted a variety of mental health resources on its website.

Lakisha Bonner, coordinato­r of the system’s guidance/counseling and career developmen­t, shared a newsletter geared toward students and parents and other for employees. Acknowledg­ing the “unpreceden­ted fear and uncertaint­y” caused by the coronaviru­s and its effect on daily life, the newsletter­s offer guidance on maintainin­g physical and mental health over the summer while schools remain closed, including fun activities for children and families.

The newsletter­s also link to sources of mental health assistance to help anyone experienci­ng anxiety, depression, stress or thoughts of suicide.

The student/parent version is at smore.com/hb6jf, and the employee version is at smore. com/y6aer. already received more han 10,000 absentee ballot for the current primary election, with 52% of those being Democrat ballots and 48% Republican. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Red Oak Church voting location in Stockbridg­e has been moved to the Red Oak Elementary gymnasium next door to the church.
