Chapter 6 Stand by Me

“This lemonade stand is a great idea Danny. I wish I’d thought of it. There must be about twenty-five people in line. What made you think of selling lemonade?” asked Benjamin.

“I knew there would be a lot of people coming out for the festival, and who can resist a little kid selling lemonade? It’s about ninety degrees out here, so everybody’s hot and thirsty, plus I knew no one else would think of it. We’ve only been out here for an hour and already made a hundred bucks. Cha-Ching! This is going to be my biggest payday ever,” said Danny.

Danny heard a commotion and noticed Pablo, Washington and Fingers cutting to the front of the line.

“Well, well, well, what have we got here? Looks like Danny’s got a little Cool-Aid stand going on,” said Pablo.

“It’s a lemonade stand,” said Danny.

“Lemonade, Cool-Aid, whatever!

You’re gonna need a band aid if you’re not careful. Don’t think I forgot about what that dog did to my sneakers,” said Pablo.

“It was an accident. Here, have a cup of lemonade, on the house.”

“No thanks chump. You can keep your stinking lemonade. We’re outta here! Come on guys.”

“Man, you know what Pablo and your lemonade stand have in common, Danny?” asked Noogie. “They’re both sour.”

As Pablo walked away he whispered to Washington and Fingers, “I know how we can get that chump back for messing up my sneakers.”
