Mother’s Day butterfly release lifts spirits

- By Kathryn Kickliter

Each Sunday we write about a deserving person or charity events such as fun runs, volunteer projects and other community gatherings that benefit a good cause. To submit a story for us to cover, email us at ajc. doinggood@gmail.com.

Arrow Exterminators is more than a pest control business. It is equally rooted in community involvement.

“Trevelino Keller came to us a while back with this really great idea to continue to give back to the community and to celebrate Mother’s Day with this special touch to go with a hands-on activity for the children to enjoy with their parents and patients of CHOA,” said Emily Kendrick (CEO), Shay Senior Vice President of MarRunion (chief HR officer) and keting Mike Malone. Update: Atlanta (Fulton)

In March, we told you about Paul Kasicki’s lighting issue in the heart of the city.

“I rent an apartment across the street from the Old Fourth Ward Park on the North Avenue side. I would estimate that 40 percent of the sidewalk lights do not work. Either they’re not getting power or they’re burned out. I walk my dog at night, and occasionally there are homeless people sleeping in the park. Can the city repair the lights?” he asked.

We heard last week from Kasicki the issue was still not resolved, so we reached out again to the city to see if we could get a firm date on when the issue would be settled.

Andrew Fernandez is a regular driver on Ga. 400 and is shocked at the deplorable condition of the highway.

“On both sides of Ga. 400, inside I-285, there is exposed gravel that leads to rocks flying up in the air off tires. This seems more like a thirdworld highway,” he said.

We sent the item to the DOT and will keep you updated.
