Music Midtown postponed until 2021

- By Melissa Ruggieri mruggieri@ajc.com

Music Midtown announced its dates and one headliner — My Chemical Romance — unusually early this year, in January.

But the excitement generated by MCR’s first tour in nine years coupled with the usual anticipation about Atlanta’s biggest annual music festival was truncated, as the coronavirus pandemic shut down the live music industry a few weeks later.

Now, for the first time since its return in 2011, Music Midtown is being postponed.

The festival would have been held at its usual home of Piedmont Park Sept. 19-20. Instead, it will take place at the same location Sept. 18-19, 2021. My Chemical Romance — the only artist announced for the 2020 edition — will remain on the bill.

Previously purchased tickets will be valid for the new date; however, those who require refunds can request them beginning June 16 by following the instructions below. Requests must be received by July 16 (2020) and refunds will be issued to original method of payment “in as little as 30 days following the deadline,” according to event organizer Live Nation.

To request a refund:
