New item: Senoia (Coweta County)

A reader asked about the state of a busy road traveled by commuters from Senoia to Peachtree City. Rockaway Road has traffic calming devices installed, but the reader said a roundabout was planned many years ago for the road at its intersection with Heritage Pointe Parkway but was never built. We sent the item to Coweta Coun- ty’s transportation department for more information.

Fixed: Decatur (DeKalb)

In February, we told you about B ill Woo lf’s issue with a sidewalk.

“The sidewalk in front of Agnes Scott College at 141 E. College Ave. has a major drainage problem that has been allowed to worsen for over 10 years, with occasional fill-ins that last until the next heavy rain. Imagine trying to navigate this area if you are visually impaired and using a cane. My under- standing is that, because this section of the road is a federal highway (U.S. 278), any maintenance in the right-of-way must be done by the DOT. Is there any way to move the DOT to address an issue it has ignored for years?” Woolf wrote.

A week later, Woolf said gravel got dumped in the hole, but the fix was still lacking.

“This does not address the main drainage issue, but it does make the sidewalk safer for pedestrians until the next big rainstorm creates a new hole,” he added.

Last week, we heard back from Woolf, who said the area appeared to have been fixed.

“It’s not clear whether he avy rains might wash away the gravel infill, but the repair was much more tho rough than the halfbaked attempts in the past.”
