Pitts, not Trump, is not supporting his country

-

Regarding the column, “You can support Trump or your country, but not both” (Opinion, July 5), Leonard Pitts indicates President Trump lied when he said he had not been informed by intelligence that Russia was paying a bounty to the Taliban to kill American military personnel. Pitts seems to think he is correct because of a New York Times report that two anonymous American officials said the information was given to Trump in a report. This is hardly proof! Pitts goes on to state Trump is either a monster or an ignoramus for saying he had not seen the report. President Trump is neither . ... To tell me and millions of other people that we do not and cannot support our country if we support President Trump is not only ridiculous, it is very offensive. Anyone can see from Pitts’ columns that his own support for this country is largely lacking.

GARY BLAND,

team. The biggest value is honoring the Tuskegee Airmen. They overcame prejudice, segregation and Jim Crow Laws to prove that they were equal to all, and superior airmen.

They fought in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany. They got the nickname “Red Tails” for the bold red livery on the tails of their planes.

Now would be a perfect time to retire the antiquated and controversial “Braves” nickname, and move forward with a more positive name. Think how beautiful it would be to have a P-51 Mustang airplane in Red Tail livery at the entrance to the ballpark.
