Do what’s right, finally, to fight COVID-19

-

It is about time Gov. Brian Kemp woke up and smelled the roses. COVID-19 is running rampant, and he is doing nothing. The state has to shut down completely. Schools should not be opened. Wearing masks must be made mandatory, with fines for those who do not obey. Some people proclaim that masks being mandatory is nothing more than “control.” There are all sorts of things that are nothing more than control, like helmets for motorcycle riders, seat belts for occupants of cars and prohibiting cellphone use while driving. There are more controls than one can imagine, and people accept them without complaining. These controls protect individuals, and they protect others from them. Some governors are following Trump like he is the Pied Piper of Hamelin, but Trump has given up on this issue. It is time to become independent and do what is right. RALEIGH C. PERRY, BUFORD
