Hearing slated on zoning for 318 new homes

Braselton’s Mayor and Council will hold a public hearing at 4 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Braselton Police and Municipal Court Building, 5040 Ga. 53, to consider rezoning and annexation to allow for the developmen­t of 318 detached single-family lots.

The proposed project on the south side of Duncan Creek Road would be on 141 acres and include a recreation area at the rear of the property with a cabana, pool and “tot lot” with about 28 acres of passive open space.

Meritage Homes of Georgia is planning on building two projects in this community. The first would include homes with a minimum of 1,600 square feet with 2-car garages priced in the high $200s and up. The second portion would Include homes with a minimum 1,800 square feet with the option of 3-car garages priced in the mid $300s and up.

Peachtree Corners will depict a theme based on the area of town in which it is located. The city’s first sculpture features a friendly looking robot walking a robotic dog, a nod to the many high-tech businesses located within Technology Park.

“Corners Connector” for the citywide trail, which will wind throughout the community connecting neighborho­ods to parks, shops, restaurant­s and offices.

The newest ⅓-mile section of the trail, which runs around a portion of the 7-acre Technology Park Lake, has a plaque dedicated to Lee Tucker in recognitio­n of his efforts to ensure the city had the land needed for the trail expansion. The trail will eventually encircle the entire lake.

“We hope our citizens, and those who work here in Tech Park, enjoy this new amenity. We look forward to celebratin­g each section of our Corners Connector trail as it is completed. We are also conducting a feasibilit­y study now to add a 3½-mile walking trail along Crooked Creek,” said Mayor Mike Mason.
