Burger chain’s Atlanta location fails health check

A downtown Atlanta burger joint that’s part of a California-based chain failed a recent health inspection. Sam’s of San Francisco scored 66/U on Oct. 9. It received a score of 100/A on March 2.

According to the report, the person in charge failed to demonstrate managerial control and knowledge of the health code.

Other violations:

■ The manager was preparing a burger with bare hands while touching telephone, writing utensils, etc. without washing hands in between tasks.

■ The manager rinsed his hands in a three compartment sink instead of washing with soap in hand sink.

■ T here was no soap at a hand-washing sink.

■ Onions and lettuce were stored uncovered in reach-in cooler.

■ A fountain drink nozzle was heavily soiled with a black, moldlike substance.

■ The menu failed to properly asterisk and identify which food items are undercooked.

■ A clear spray bottle filled with water was not properly labeled.

■ Several soiled wet wiping clothes were stored on a prep table.

Most restaurants with failed scores are reinspected within 10 days.
