In appreciation of Cherokee County elections workers staying on the job through the coronavirus outbreak, the county Board of Commissioners has authorized hazard pay of $ 500 per month.

The pay would be funded froma $ 611,293 grant recently l awarded to the county by the Center for Tech and Civil Life to ensure safe and secure elections.

“The elections supervisor wouldlike touseupto $ 31,000 of the grant funds to pay eligible, permanent personnel hazard pay in the amount of $ 500/ month for the months of June through December due to working public elections during the COVID- 19 pandemic,” staff told commissioners.

Hazard pay is an eligible expense, covered 100% by the grant agreement, staff said. No county tax dollars are required. Information: bit. ly/ 3khRJW9

Keep Roswell Beautiful and the Roswell Recycling Center are inviting residents to donate gently used blankets and towels for the local Humane Society inNovember, “America Recycles” month.

Linens can be dropped off at the Recycling Center, 11570 Maxwell Road, Alpharetta, beginning with the America Recycles kickoffffff, 9 a. m. to 1 p. m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

The kickoffwill featuremascot Kirby the Duck anda Curbside Candy Slide designed and built out of recycled materials by Roswell students from the Fulton Academy of Science and Technology.

Clean blankets and towels are requested; bed sheets, pillowcases, weighted blankets and electric blankets will not be accepted.

The Roswell Recycling Center currently is open only to Roswell residents.
