1 GOLF: Darren Clarkew on the Timber Tech Champions in Boca Raton, Fla., for his first PGA Tour Champions title, two- putting for birdie on the par- 518th fora one- stroke victory over Jim Furyk and Bernhard Langer. Clarke hit his second shot on 18 to 30 feet and rolled his eagle try just past the hole. After Fury k missed a 25- foot eagle try, Clarke tapped in fora 4- under68.

2 GOLF: Call um Sh ink win beat Kalle Samooja in a playoff tow in his first European Tour title at the Cyprus Open. Shinkwin birdied the first extra hole to secure the victory after the pair had finished tied at 20under. Shinkwin was two shots behind with two holes to play but birdied the 17th and then holed from 50 feet foran eagle on the 18th to complete aback nine of 29.

3 SOCCER: Cristiano Ronaldo marked his recovery fromthe coronaviru­s by scoring twice on his return to help Juvent us beat newly promoted Spezia 4- 1 in the Italian league. Juventus was struggling to break Spezia down until Ronaldo was brought on as a substitute in the 56thminute. He put Juventus up 2- 1 three minutes later and also converteda penalty.

SOCCER: Manchester United and 4 England great Bobby Charlton has been diagnosed with dementia. The announceme­nt came two days after NobbyStile­s, whowon the 1966 World Cup and 1968 European Cupas Charlton’s teammate, died after battling dementia. In July, the 83- yearoldBob­by’s brotherand fellow England World Cup winner Jack also died after being diagnosed with the disease.
