1 WOMEN’ S BASKETBALL:

Nancy Darsch, who guided Ohio State to the 1993 title gameand went on to coach in the WNBA, died Monday at 68. She had Parkinson’s disease and died in her home town of Plymouth, Massachuse­tts. Darsch led the Buckeyes from 1985 to 1997, compiling a234- 125record. Darsch was the inaugural coach of the New York Liberty in1997. She helped the team reach the WNBA Finals that first season, whenthey lost to the Houston Comets. Darsch later coached the Washington Mystic sand was an assistant for the Minnesota Lynx and Seattle Storm.

2 COLLEGEBAS­KETBALL:

South Carolina men’s and women’s teams received approval from the state to have about 3,500 spectators at games this season. The school said no one will be able to sit in the first five rows around the court during the pandemic.

3 COLLEGEFOO­TBALL:

Virginia starting defensive end Richard Burney will not play for the rest of the season because of a medical issue. Coach Bronco Mendenhall did not disclose the specific nature of Burney’s ailment.

4 PROBOXING:

Alexander Povetkin’s rematch with Dillian Whyte for the WBC interim heavyweigh­t title was postponed after the Russian tested positive for the coronaviru­s. Promoter Eddie Hearn said the fight on Nov. 21in London could not go a head but would be reschedule­d for January. Povetkin, an Olympic gold medalist with a 36- 2- 1 pro record, knocked out Whyte ( 27- 2) in their first fight in August.

5 PRO TENNIS:

Stan Wawrinka advanced to the second round of the Paris Masters, beating Britain’s Daniel Evans 6- 3,7- 6 ( 3). Wawrink a will next face either Gilles Simon or Tommy Paul. Also, Richard Gasquet defeated Taylor Fritz 6- 0,3- 6,6- 3 and Canadian Milos Raonic beat Aljaz Bedene 6- 3, 6- 2.
