Arrest in deadly triple shooting
Police have arrested a suspect in an August triple shooting in unincorporated Lilburn that left one man dead.
The fugitive squad with the Gwinnett County Sheriff ’s Department arrested Christopher JeanPierre in connection with the Aug. 2 shooting death of Julius Vance, police said Wednesday. He faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Gwinnett police Cpl. Ryan Winderweedle said Vance, 22, of Snellville, was shot in the 700 block of Beaver Ruin Road.
Following the shooting, victims and suspects flfled the scene. It’s unclear what prompted the violence, but investigators believe it may have been drug- related.
Lil burn offifficers working an offduty job heard gun fifi re about 7:30 p.m ., police said. The officers went to the location and found a man who had been shot in the abdomen, offifficials said.
A second victim was later discovered in the bed of a pickup truck with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. He was taken to Northside Gwinnett Hospital.
Witnesses told investigators the wounded man ran away from the scene of the shooting and climbed into the back of the truck, which was found more than a mile away on Burns Walk Court. The driver was not aware someone was in the bed of his pickup, police said in a statement.
The third victim, who was shot multiple times, was located at a home off Cliff glen Way and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
