No DACA ruling: A federal judge did not immediatel­y issue a ruling following a court hearing Tuesday on the fate of a U. S. program shielding immigrants brought to the country illegally as children. During a nearly 3 ½ - hour hearing, Texas and eight other states asked U. S. District Judge Andrew Hanen to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, which provides limited protection­s to about 650,000 people. The program was enacted by former President Barack Obama in 2012.

Ten hurt in blast: At least 10 people were injured Wednesday morning, nine of them critically, in an explosion in an office building in downtown Baltimore that caused part of its roof to collapse, authoritie­s said. Firefighte­rs and ambulances responded to the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. building on Center Street after the explosion, which was reported sometime after 8 a. m.

Bail granted: Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai was granted bail on Wednesday, nearly three weeks after he was remanded in custody over fraud and national securityre­lated charges.

Media group hacked: A regional newspaper group in Germany has become the target of a cyberattac­k, preventing it from publishing its regular editions Wednesday. The Funke media group said the attack, which began Tuesday, affected numerous computer systems at editorial offices and printing plants across the country.

Singer dies: K. T. Oslin, the pioneering country singersong­writer whose biggest hits gave voice to the desires and trials of female baby boomers on the cusp of middle age, died Monday at an assisted- living facility. She was 78. The cause was complicati­ons of Parkinson’s disease.
