Gwinnett location of chicken chain fails health check

A Gwinnett County location of a regional chicken franchise failed a recent health inspection. Zaxby’s on Mcginnis Ferry Road in Suwanee scored 69/ U on Dec. 21. Previous scores were 96/ A on Oct. 31, 2019, and 97/ A on May 1, 2019.

According to the report, there was no Certififie­d Food Service Manager on the premises. The person in charge was advised to obtain certifific­ation and post it. Other violations:

■ An employee touched their COVID- 19 face mask, then handled ready- to- eat food without washing hands and changing gloves. Advised person in charge of correct procedure.

■Employee wiped gloved hands on pants after handling raw chicken, then continued to handle food without a hand washing and glove change.

■ Employee drinks were on prep tables. Advised person in charge to not store drinks on prep tables.

■ The hand soap dispenser at main kitchen hand sink was broken.

■ Cheese on prep table was 48 degrees. It was discarded. Advised person in charge to hold such foods at 41 degrees or below.

■ Wet wipe cloths were stored around kitchen and on prep tables, not kept in sanitizer solution.

■ Many towels appeared to be drying on shelf. Advised person in charge to store in sanitizer solution.

■ Sides and surfaces of equipment were heavily soiled with food residue. Floors were soiled with food residue under and behind equipment.

Most restaurant­s with failed scores are reinspecte­d within 10 days.
