Vietnamese cafe in Gwinnett fails health inspection

A Vietnamese restaurant in Gwinnett County failed a recent health inspection. Sunshine Cafe and Restaurant in Tucker scored 67/U on Jan. 14. It had a previous score of 100/A on Nov. 12.

According to the report, there were employee water bottles on the prep table and all around the kitchen.

Other violations:

■ Eggs in the walk-in cooler were placed in a paper towel box. When asked about invoices, the person in charge said they were bought at the farmers’ market, and there were no receipts.

■ Raw meats (out of the original container) were mixed with ready-to-eat foods in the chest freezer. Also, multiple broths, raw meats and ready-to-eat foods (egg rolls) were mixed together in the freezer.

■ Multiple broths in the walk-in cooler made on Jan. 11 were not date marked.

■ Several employees were handling food without wearing a hair restraint.

Most restaurants with failed scores are reinspected within 10 days.
