On a contrary note, the University of Michigan’s final consumer sentiment index for February was 76.8, down from 79 in January. That was slightly better than the preliminary reading of 76.2 but well below the 101 of a year ago. Richard Curtin, director of the survey, said few consumers “anticipate persistent and robust economic growth in the years ahead or that employment conditions will be soon restored.”
Georgia is now vaccinating:
Health care workers, law enforcement, fire personnel, residents and staff of long-term care facilities, people 65 and older and their caregivers.
The pool expands March 8 to include: Educators and school staff, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers, parents of children with complex medical conditions.
The Roswell City Council recently approved a $168,000 in contracts with Intercontinental Commercial Services Inc. and American Facility Services Inc. for janitorial services at recreational facilities.
Locations impacted include Bill Johnson Community Activity Building, Physical Activity Center, Roswell Adult Aquatics Facility, Adult Recreation Center, Hembree Park Recreation Center and East Roswell Recreation Center.
According to city documents, the updated contracts will help address CDC guidelines for COVID-19 “that have driven the necessity to have the Recreation and Parks’ highly populated facilities properly sanitized and thoroughly disinfected prior to opening each day.”
This will allow full-time maintenance staff to adjust their schedule to be on-site longer during normal operating hours and reduce the need for maintenance staff to divert from other buildings to support these locations. Staff will also be able to increase response time during peak operating times later in the day. of Commissioners, at its Feb. 16 meeting approved actions related to the Georgia Department of Transportation:
■ A Georgia Department of Transportation framework agreement for the Ga. 140 at Univeter Road Intersection Improvement Project. The agreement identifies responsibilities of both GDOT and Cherokee County for the design phase of the project.
■ A proposal from GDOT for the acquisition of 1.655 acres of right of way for the Ga. 20 widening project – Ga. 369 to Ga. 371, from the county-owned library parcel at Old Mill Road in the amount of $248,300. County Manager Jerry Cooper asked Commissioners to allocate the original amount paid for the property back into the SPLOST line item for the Sequoyah Regional Library System.
■ Reinhardt University, Cherokee County, and the city of Waleska are splitting the cost of the total project to be completed by the Georgia Department of Transportation.
