THE HOT CORNER

-

1 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Gonzaga and Baylor spent almost the entire season holding down the top two spots in the Top 25. Makes sense they’d hold down a bunch of spots on the AP AllAmerica teams. The Bulldogs’ Corey Kispert and the Bears’ Jared Butler led the way with first- team nods from the national panel of 63 media members that vote each week in the AP Top 25 poll. They were joined by unanimous pick Luka Garza of Iowa, a twotime selection, along with Ayo Dosunmu of Illinois and Cade Cunningham of Oklahoma State.

2 PRO CYCLING: Tadej Pogacar is preparing perfectly to defend his Tour de France title. The Slovenian won the weeklong TirrenoAdriatico race by a comfortable margin ahead of a stellar field Tuesday, adding to his title in the UAE Tour last month. He finished 1 minute, 3 seconds ahead of Wout van Aert in the overall standings. Van Aert, who rides for the JumboVisma team, won the time trial for his second stage win of the race.

3 PRO BASEBALL: Youtube will broadcast a Major League Baseball package of games for a third season. The series of 21 telecasts start April 7 at 1: 10 p. m. when the Red Sox host the Rays, MLB and Youtube said. The games are exclusive and will not be televised by club broadcast partners. Youtube telecasts include live chats. MLB’S primary national agreements are with Fox, Turner and ESPN.

4 PRO BASEBALL: Yankees LHP Zack Britton had surgery to remove a bone chip from his pitching elbow. The reliever is likely to be out until at least May and perhaps longer.

5 PRO TENNIS: South African qualifier Lloyd Harris stunned

U.S. Open champ Dominic Thiem 6- 3, 6- 4 in the Austrian’s opening match at the Dubai Championships. Harris hit nine aces and didn’t allow fourthranked Thiem a single break point.
