THE HOT CORNER

-

1 PRO SOCCER: Zlatan Ibrahimovi will be fit enough to face his former club when AC Milan hosts Manchester United in the Europa League today. The Sweden forward, who played for United from 2016- 18, has missed Milan’s past four matches with a left thigh injury. That ruled him out of a return to Old Trafford, where Milan snatched a 1- 1 draw in the first leg of the round of 16.

2 COLLEGE BASKETBALL:

George Mason fired men’s coach Dave Paulsen, ending his tenure after six seasons with no NCAA Tournament or NIT appearances. Under Paulsen, the program went 95- 91 with a 47- 57 record in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

3 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Richard Pitino was hired as New Mexico’s coach, hours after Minnesota finalized his firing following eight seasons with the Gophers. Pitino, 38, is replacing Paul Weir, who went 58- 63 in four seasons.

4 PRO HOCKEY: Twelve consecutive losses — and no indication of the skid ending any time soon — were enough for Buffalo Sabres first- year general manager Kevyn Adams to fire coach Ralph Krueger on Wednesday. The Sabres made the move after a 3- 2 loss at New Jersey, against a Devils team that snapped an 11- game home skid.

5 PRO TENNIS: The Miami Open lost another big name Tuesday, as Rafael Nadal withdrew because of a back injury. Another fan favorite, Roger Federer, pulled out earlier this month as he recovers from knee surgery.

6 COLLEGE BASKETBALL:

Oklahoma women’s coach Sherri Coale is retiring after 25 years leading the program, the school announced. Coale, a member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, led three Oklahoma teams to the Final Four, reaching the national title game in 2002.
