MLB is “finalizing a new host city” for the All-Star game and will announce the site “shortly,” baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement Friday. The game is scheduled for July 13.

Within hours of the decision to move the game out of Georgia, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett wrote to Manfred

asking that his city be considered as the new site, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

“It is a particularly appropriate location to honor Hank Aaron, who is a revered and beloved former Milwaukeean,” Barrett wrote.

Baker, who played for the Braves from 1968 through 1975, commended MLB’s decision to move the All-Star game and related events.

“My opinion is that it’s a positive move by Major League Baseball to support voting rights,” Baker said. “That was a pretty big and bold move by baseball. I’m proud of the fact that they stood by the voting rights of people.”

The Braves placed infielder Ehire Adrianza on the injured list Saturday and recalled infielder Johan Camargo.

Adrianza was away from the Braves during their off day Friday because of a “personal matter,” a team official said. Adrianza was placed on the IL because he must pass all COVID-19 protocols before officially rejoining the club.

“He had a personal issue and had to leave, and when you come back, you have to go through the protocols,” manager Brian Snitker said. “We’re lucky we had the taxi squad with us, where we could activate Camargo.”

Camargo was one of five players on the Braves’ taxi squad that travels with the team, which meant he was in Philadelphia. The utilityman didn’t make the opening-day roster because he had an option available. The Braves instead carried Adrianza and Pablo Sandoval. — GABRIEL BURNS
