1 Ambitious goal: More than 300 businesses and investors, including such giants as Apple, Google, Microsoft and CocaCola, are calling on the Biden administra­tion to set an ambitious climate change goal that would cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% below 2005 levels by 2030.

4 Flights suspended: France’s prime minister has announced the suspension of all flights between Brazil and France amid concerns over coronaviru­s variants. Prime Minister Jean Castex made the announceme­nt Tuesday in parliament. He said: “we note that the situation is getting worse and so we have decided to suspend all flights between Brazil and France until further notice.”

5 Troop announceme­nt today: President Joe Biden will withdraw all American troops from Afghanista­n over the coming months, people familiar with the plans said, completing the military exit by the 20th anniversar­y of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that first drew the United States into its longest war. Biden is expected to make the announceme­nt today, according to one person familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
