PHOENIX — The Braves mixed up their lineup for their series opener in Arizona, putting slugger Jorge Soler at the leadoff spot.

Soler, who has an .876 OPS as a Brave, has started only one other game at leadoff in his career, on May 2, 2015. Soler has 10 home runs and 22 RBIS in 43 games with the Braves this season.

First baseman Freddie Freeman will bat second with second baseman Ozzie Albies hitting third, where he’s slashed .287/.337/.506 in 42 games. Albies has slumped through most of September, hitting .213/.258/.459 with five homers over 14 games.

Third baseman Austin Riley follows Albies with Adam Duvall back in center field and hitting fifth. Eddie Rosario, who hit for the cycle in Sunday’s win, manned left field and hit sixth. William Contreras started at catcher after Travis d’arnaud played the entire weekend series in San Francisco.

Other notes from Monday:

■ Manager Brian Snitker said the team will announce today’s starter following Monday’s game. The likeliest option is veteran southpaw Drew Smyly, who last started Aug. 30 against the Dodgers before he was bumped to the bullpen. Smyly has allowed one run over three relief appearances (three innings).

■ Right-hander Ian Anderson is scheduled to start Wednesday against Diamondbacks righty Merrill Kelly. Charlie Morton will start the series finale Thursday against fellow veteran Madison Bumgarner, who owns a 4.56 ERA across 24 starts.

■ The Braves snapped a four-game losing streak Sunday. They’re one of four teams to avoid a losing skid of five or more games, joining the Dodgers,

Giants and Phillies.

■ An element to watch during the Braves’ series in Arizona: how they perform with runners in scoring position. They were 6-for-36 (.167) in that category

over their last four games entering Monday.

■ Duvall entered Monday riding a career-best 15-game hitting streak.

Duvall, who’s hit .288/.323/.729

over the run, has the longest active streak in MLB and the longest by a Braves player since Freeman had an 18-game streak Aug. 14 through Sept. 4, 2020.
