Northside Hospital Gwinnett recently doubled the size of its emergency room to more than 75,000 square feet.

A new tower in the works at Northside Hospital Gwinnett will allow some patients to receive treatment while 10 stories above Lawrenceville.

The hospital received approval from Georgia’s Department of Community Health to construct a multistory tower with 162 inpatient beds. The $400 million project, expected to be com- pleted in 2023, will include nearly 407,000 square feet of new construction and more than 60,000 square feet of renovations.

The 100-acre Lawrenceville campus currently has 388 inpatient beds. The patient tower plans also include a five-story, 143,828-square- foot medical office building to house outpatient imaging, ambulatory surgery and a variety of physician prac- tices.

Northside Hospital Gwinnett recently doubled the size of its emergency room to more than 75,000 square feet. The $57 million expan- sion has a redesigned trauma area to address access and patient flow challenges, as well as a two-story addition with more exam rooms and

observation rooms.

The hospital’s emergency department consistently ranks among the highest volume facilities in Georgia, with more than 100,000 visits annually.

“With the completion of this project, emergency room capacity will double, thus increasing the ability to not only take care of more Gwinnett County residents, but take care of them more efficiently,” said Debbie Mit-

president and CEO of the hospital, in a news release.
