PRO FOOTBALL: Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry was activated from injured reserve to possibly help Cleveland’s injurydeci­mated offense Thursday night against the Denver Broncos. One of the league’s most consistent pass catchers, Landry has been out since he sprained his medial collateral knee ligament while being tackled in the first quarter against Houston on Sept. 19.

PRO BASEBALL: Mets righthande­r Carlos Carrasco had surgery to remove a bone fragment from his pitching elbow and is projected to resume baseball activities this winter. Carrasco, 34, was obtained by New York from Cleveland in January along with shortstop Francisco Lindor. His tore his right hamstring during spring training and didn’t make his season debut until July 30. Carrasco went 1-5 with a 6.04 ERA in 12 starts. He is signed to a contract that pays $12 million next season.

PRO FOOTBALL: The Green Bay 3

Packers signed veteran outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus on Thursday in hopes of boosting their injury-depleted pass rush. Pro Bowler Za’darius Smith is on injured reserve and veteran starter Preston Smith is dealing with an oblique injury.

PRO GOLF: Jeff Winther shot an 4

8-under 62 to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Mallorca Open on Thursday. The Danish player had 10 birdies and two bogeys at the Santa Ponsa course in the third and final event of the European Tour’s Spain swing. Niklas Lemke of Sweden and Bryce Easton of South Africa were tied for second.

PRO HOCKEY: Jack Hughes, the 5

No. 1 pick in the 2019 NHL draft, has a dislocated left shoulder and will be sidelined. The Devils made the announceme­nt Thursday, saying Hughes won’t need surgery at this time and has started physical therapy. The team didn’t say how long he would be out.
