1 Germany expels Russian diplomats: Germany’s foreign minister said Wednesday that her country is expelling two Russian diplomats after a court concluded that Moscow was behind the killing of a Chechen man in Berlin two years ago. The 2019 brazen daylight killing of Zelimkhan “Tornike” Khangoshvi­li, a Georgian citizen of Chechen ethnicity, sparked outrage in Berlin and previously prompted the German government to expel two Russian diplomats.

2 Teacher fired for not wearing mask: A teacher in South Florida has been fired for repeatedly refusing to wear a mask. The School Board in Broward County on Tuesday unanimousl­y voted to fire John C. Alvarez, a science teacher at Piper High, for gross insubordin­ation. The School Board had required students and employees to wear masks in schools for most of the school year.

3 Nuclear site cameras coming back: The United Nations’ nuclear watchdog and Iran reached a deal Wednesday to reinstall cameras damaged at an Iranian site that manufactur­es centrifuge parts, though inspectors remain limited on what footage they can access. The agreement will see cameras put back at Karaj.

4 Navalny’s daughter accepts award: The daughter of imprisoned Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny received a ovation from European Union lawmakers as she accepted the EU’S top human rights prize on her father’s behalf Wednesday. Navalny was named in October as the winner of the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.

5 Fire at Disney World: A small fire at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom started in a tree and may have been caused by fireworks debris, officials said Wednesday. The blaze started Tuesday after fireworks were set off near the Cinderella Castle.
