The star of one of television’s biggest and most enduring shows is trying to end it.

Ellen Pompeo says she’s ready for medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” to end after 18 seasons on ABC — even if she’s the only one.

“I’ve been trying to focus on convincing everybody that it should end,” the Golden Globe-nominated actress said during a recent interview.

“I feel like I’m the super-naive one who keeps saying, ‘But what’s the story going to be, what story are we going to tell?’” she said to Insider. “And everyone’s like, ‘Who cares, Ellen? It makes a gazillion dollars.’”

The Shonda Rhimes-created medical drama is a ratings draw for the Disney-owned broadcast network. And Pompeo, who stars as Dr. Meredith Grey and is also a producer on the show, is one of the highest-paid actresses on TV after contract negotiations in 2017. The 52-year-old Massachusetts native reportedly makes $575,000 per episode.

She revealed to The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that “Grey’s Anatomy” has generated nearly $3 billion for Disney: “When your face and your voice have been part of something that’s generated $3 billion for one of the biggest corporations in the world, you start to feel like, ‘OK, maybe I do deserve a piece of this.’”

The new interview isn’t the first time the ex-l’oreal hair color pitchwoman expressed a desire to end the series.

“I mean, I’ve been trying to get away for years,” Pompeo told Entertainment Tonight earlier this year. “I have been trying. It’s not because I haven’t been trying. I have strong relationships at the network, and they have been very, very good to me, and have incentivized me to stay.”
