1 PRO SOCCER: Former U.S. national team member Steve Cherundolo has been named Los Angeles FC’S coach. LAFC confirmed Cherundolo’s hiring Monday as the replacement for Bob Bradley, the first coach in the expansion franchise’s history. Bradley and LAFC agreed to part ways late last year after the club missed the MLS playoffs for the first time. Cherundolo spent last season as coach of the Las Vegas Lights, LAFC’S USL affiliate.
2 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams said Monday he is entering his name in the transfer portal so he can speak with other schools, but he has not ruled out staying with the Sooners. The freshman who played for then-head coach Lincoln Riley posted his intentions on social media. Riley left Oklahoma to be coach at USC.
3 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Marshall quarterback Grant Wells announced Monday he is transferring. Wells completed 66% of his passes for 3,532 yards with 16 touchdowns and 13 interceptions this season. Marshall went 7-6, losing to Louisiana-lafayette in the New Orleans Bowl. A year ago Wells led Marshall to the Conference USA championship game.
4 PRO BASKETBALL: Oklahoma City rookie Josh Giddey became the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double on Sunday night. Giddey had 17 points, 14 assists and 13 rebounds for his first triple-double in the Thunder’s 95-86 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. The 6-foot-8 guard accomplished the feat at 19 years, 2 months, 23 days, beating Charlotte’s Lamelo Ball, who had a triple-double at 19 years, 10 months, 17 days.
5 PRO HOCKEY: The NHL on Monday postponed the Seattle Kraken’s home game scheduled for Thursday against Ottawa because of COVID-19 problems with the Senators.
