TENNIS: Felix Auger-aliassime clinched the ATP Cup title for Canada with a 7-6 (3), 6-3 singles victory over Roberto Bautista Agut to give his country an insurmount­able 2-0 lead against Spain. Denis Shapovalov opened the match for Canada with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Pablo Carreno Busta.

SKIING: Petra Vlhova cemented her status as the leading female slalom skier of the season with her fifth win from six races with just a month to go before the Olympic race. The overall World Cup champ from Slovakia won the penultimat­e slalom before the Games as she denied firstrun leader Wendy Holdener of Switzerlan­d a first career win in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. Mikaela Shiffrin was third after the opening run but skied out in a blistering-fast second run until the American straddled a gate. It was the first time in nearly four years Shiffrin failed to finish a slalom.

SKIING: Johannes Strolz, 29, was the shocking winner of a World Cup slalom in Adelboden, Switzerlan­d. He had a career-best finish of 10th and is not even an official member of the powerful Austria team this season.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Aliyah Boston had 18 points and 15 rebounds as No. 1 South Carolina (15-1, 3-1 SEC) improved to 8-0 against ranked foes this season with a 74-54 victory over No. 21 Kentucky (8-4, 1-1) . ... Jordan Horston’s 20 points and 11 rebounds led No. 7 Tennessee (15-1, 4-0 SEC) over Mississipp­i 70-58, snapping a13-game win streak for the Rebels (13-2, 1-1).

SOCCER: Arsenal failed to transfer its improved Premier League form to the FA Cup, losing 1-0 to second-tier Nottingham Forest in the second big shock of the third round. Arsenal became the highest-ranked casualty at the stage of the competitio­n that sees Premier League teams enter. Sixth-tier Kiddermins­ter beat Reading 2-1 on Saturday.
