1 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Candace Parker posted her second career triple-double Sunday as the Chicago Sky beat the Washington Mystics 82-73. Parker totaled 16 points, 13 rebounds and picked up a 10th assist on a basket by Allie Quigley with 21.2 seconds remaining for the 12th triple-double in WNBA history. Parker joins Sheryl Swoopes and Courtney Vandersloot as players to accomplish the feat twice.
2 MEN’S HOCKEY: Denmark beat Canada for the first time in a 3-2 upset win at the world ice hockey championship on Monday in Finland. The United States lost 1-0 to the Czech Republic.
3 MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Alabama signed former St. Bonaventure shooting guard Dominick Welch. He averaged 12.3 points and 6.0 rebounds last season, helping the Bonnies make the NIT semifinals. Welch finished third in program history with 257 career 3-pointers.
4 LUGE: Luge’s governing body said it plans on bringing races back to North America for the first time in nearly three years, with stops planned for Park City, Utah, and Whistler, Canada. The International Luge Federation released its planned schedule for the 2022-23 season on Monday. It starts with two consecutive weekends in Austria on Nov. 2527 and Dec. 2-4, followed by the North American swing: Whistler from Dec. 8-10 and Park City from Dec. 15-17.
5 SWIMMING: Singer Cody Simpson, who was part of the entertainment lineup for the last Commonwealth Games and competed on “Dancing With The Stars,” has been selected for Australia’s swim team. Simpson placed third in the 100-meter butterfly at the Australian trials for this year’s Commonwealth Games, and only narrowly missed out on a spot at next month’s world championships.
