1 PRO BASEBALL: The Brewers placed right-hander Freddy Peralta on the 15-day injured list with a right lat strain Monday and put closer Josh Hader on the family medical emergency list. Peralta left Sunday’s game against the Nationals with tightness in his upper shoulder. Manager Craig Counsell said Hader will miss the entire three-game series at San Diego to be with his wife, who is expecting their first child.

2 PRO BASEBALL: St. Louis placed star catcher Yadier Molina on the bereavemen­t list Monday. The Cardinals also announced that right-hander Alex Reyes is going to have shoulder surgery later this month. The 27-year-old Reyes got a second opinion about his ailing shoulder that has kept him on the injured list all season. Molina’s son injured his arm playing baseball in Puerto Rico and was to have surgery Tuesday.

3 PRO BASKETBALL: Tim Connelly is leaving his job as president of basketball operations of the Denver Nuggets for a similar role with Minnesota, the Timberwolv­es announced. Connelly, 45, steadily built the Nuggets into a perennial playoff contender through draft picks that included two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and point guard Jamal Murray.

4 PRO BOXING: Canelo Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin will resume their rivalry Sept. 17 after a fouryear break, promoters Matchroom Boxing announced Tuesday. The fighters met in 2017 and again in 2018 for two highly entertaini­ng middleweig­ht matchups. They fought to a split draw in the first bout, and Álvarez won a narrow majority decision in the second meeting.

5 GOLF: Rose Zhang overcame a shaky front nine to shoot a 3-over 75 on Monday at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, Ariz., capping her stellar freshman season by becoming Stanford’s second straight individual NCAA women’s champion.
