Heard-depp trial: Amber Heard 3 returned to the stand Thursday morning in the final hours of testimony in the six-week defamation trial against her exhusband, Johnny Depp. The judge sent the jury home at noon after the actress’s testimony and said closing arguments will take place this morning. Depp sued Heard for $50 million, alleging defamation over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post.

Lawsuit: California transit 4 agency failed to stop gunman:

One year after a problem employee shot and killed nine coworkers in a rampage at a light rail yard, the family of one of the victims filed a lawsuit Thursday alleging negligence and wrongful death by the Northern California transporta­tion agency, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and a private security firm by failing to address the gunman’s history of violent threats or provide adequate security.
