New Yorkers under age 21 will be prohibited from buying semiautomatic rifles under a law signed Monday by Gov. Kathy Hochul, making the state one of the first to enact a major gun control initiative following a wave of deadly mass shootings. Hochul, a Democrat, signed 10 gunrelated bills, including one that will require microstamping in new firearms, which could help law enforcement solve gun-related crimes.
2 Pilot identified: The Navy has made public the identity of a pilot killed in the crash of a fighter jet in the Southern California desert last week. Lt. Richard Bullock was killed Friday when his F/A-18E Super Hornet went down in the vicinity of Trona, Naval Air Forces said in a statement Sunday night. His home of record was listed only as Montana.
Crab meat recalled: Irvington

Seafood of Irvington, Alabama, is recalling 1-pound packages of crab meat because inspectors found listeria bacteria on cooking equipment and in the cooking room. The recalled packages, labeled “Crabmeat: Jumbo, Lump, Finger, and Claw meat,”were sold in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Trial postponed: The judge
4 overseeing the case against two former Minneapolis police officers charged in George Floyd’s killing ordered Monday that the trial be delayed until January in hopes that additional time will improve prospects for a fair trial. Tou Thao and J. Alexander Kueng had been due to go on trial next week on charges of aiding and abetting both second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the May 2020 death of Floyd.
