New Yorkers under age 21 will be prohibited from buying semiautoma­tic rifles under a law signed Monday by Gov. Kathy Hochul, making the state one of the first to enact a major gun control initiative following a wave of deadly mass shootings. Hochul, a Democrat, signed 10 gunrelated bills, including one that will require microstamp­ing in new firearms, which could help law enforcemen­t solve gun-related crimes.

2 Pilot identified: The Navy has made public the identity of a pilot killed in the crash of a fighter jet in the Southern California desert last week. Lt. Richard Bullock was killed Friday when his F/A-18E Super Hornet went down in the vicinity of Trona, Naval Air Forces said in a statement Sunday night. His home of record was listed only as Montana.

Crab meat recalled: Irvington

Seafood of Irvington, Alabama, is recalling 1-pound packages of crab meat because inspectors found listeria bacteria on cooking equipment and in the cooking room. The recalled packages, labeled “Crabmeat: Jumbo, Lump, Finger, and Claw meat,”were sold in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississipp­i.

Trial postponed: The judge

4 overseeing the case against two former Minneapoli­s police officers charged in George Floyd’s killing ordered Monday that the trial be delayed until January in hopes that additional time will improve prospects for a fair trial. Tou Thao and J. Alexander Kueng had been due to go on trial next week on charges of aiding and abetting both second-degree murder and second-degree manslaught­er in the May 2020 death of Floyd.

U.S. toseize jets: U.S. authoritie­s 5 moved Monday to seize two luxury jets — a $60 million Gulfstream and a $350 million Boeing 787-8 — after linking both to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
