1 Honda issues major recall: Honda is recalling a half-million vehicles in the U.S. and Canada because the front seat belts may not latch properly. The recall covers some of the automaker’s top-selling models, including the 2017-20 CR-V, the 2018-19 Accord, the 2018-20 Odyssey and the 2019 Insight. Also included is the Acura RDX from the 2019-20 model years.

It’s the first such analysis of the possible link between a Mediterran­ean-type diet and cardiovasc­ular disease that focuses on women, the authors say. Heart disease is the leading cause of death globally.

3 Chinese tycoon charged: a business tycoon long sought by the government of China and known for cultivatin­g ties to Trump administra­tion figures including Steve Bannon was arrested Wednesday in New York on charges that he oversaw a $1 billion fraud conspiracy. Guo Wengui, 54, and his financier, Kin Ming Je, faced an indictment in federal court charging them with crimes including wire, securities and bank fraud.

4 Rail merger approved: Canadian Pacific Railway received a green light to complete its $27 billion acquisitio­n of Kansas City Southern, overcoming opposition from shippers and creating the only rail operator serving the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The deal is consistent with the public interest, the U.S. Surface Transporta­tion Board said.

5 China, Russia, Iran stage naval drills: Naval forces from China, Iran and Russia — countries at odds with the United States — are staging joint drills in the Gulf of Oman this week, China’s Defense Ministry said Tuesday. Other countries are also taking part, the ministry said without details.
