1 OBITUARY: Jerry Green, a sports writer in Detroit for decades, has died at 94. The Detroit News reported his death. Green was known for a remarkable streak: He covered 56 consecutive Super Bowls for The Detroit News before staying home this year for health reasons. Green retired as a columnist at the News in 2004, but he continued to attend the NFL’S big game and write about it for the newspaper.

PRO FOOTBALL: The Green Bay Packers have re-signed outside linebacker Justin Hollins. Hollins recorded 2½ sacks in six games for the Packers last season after they claimed him off waivers from the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 24. The 27-year-old Hollins played 34 games for the Rams from 202022 and was part of their 2021 Super Bowl championship team. He spent his rookie season with the Denver Broncos.

3 has added another speedy wide receiver after agreeing to terms with free agent Marquise Goodwin. Goodwin’s addition comes two days after the Browns acquired wide receiver Elijah Moore in a trade from the New York Jets. Goodwin spent last season with Seattle.

Mavericks star Luka Doncic has been fined $35,000 for directing a money sign toward officials in the final seconds of a loss to Golden State. Doncic walked toward officials while rubbing his fingers together with 1.7 seconds left in the 127-125 loss. He apparently was upset that a foul wasn’t called when he missed a layup.

Jackets forward Patrik Laine is out two to four weeks after straining a triceps muscle in practice. His absence is yet another blow to the NHL’S last-place team. Laine already missed two separate stints with elbow and ankle injuries in the fall.
