1 Mets’ Senga may begin throwing within 1 week:

New York Mets right-hander Kodai Senga is expected to begin throwing within one week after tests revealed inflammati­on in his right shoulder has cleared. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza says an MRI on Senga’s shoulder was “very, very encouragin­g.”The medical clearance to throw provides an opportunit­y to return to the rotation in May. Senga was shut down last month after he reported discomfort in the shoulder. Mendoza says Senga may begin throwing“within the next week” if he shows he has regained strength in the shoulder. Senga will open the season on the injured list.

2 Lions release Sutton as search for DB continues with warrant issued:

The Detroit Lions have released Cameron Sutton as authoritie­s continue to search for the defensive back to serve a domesticvi­olence warrant in Florida. The sevenyear pro just finished his first season with the Lions and helped them reach their first NFC championsh­ip game in 32 years. Law enforcemen­t responded to a call about domestic violence in progress involving the 29-year-old Sutton and a female.

IOC says it was tricked by 3 Russian prank callers ahead of Paris:

The Internatio­nal Olympic Committee believes its president, Thomas Bach, fell prey to a prank telephone call amid rising tensions with Russia over restrictio­ns on its athletes competing at the Paris Games. The IOC on Thursday detailed a call from people claiming to be from the African Union. The call was about IOC criticism that Russia is politicizi­ng sport. The IOC says it was “a new incident in the Russian disinforma­tion and defamation campaign” against the Olympic body.
