Locust Grove pizzeria cited after routine inspection

Violations include mold issue and problems with prepared food items.

During a routine health inspection at the Henry County American Pie Pizzeria, the ice machine was dirty, and the chicken salad was at an unsafe temperature.

The ice machine’s chute was covered in a pink and black moldlike substance, a repeat violation. The chicken salad was discarded because it was at 52 degrees and out of the temperature range.

American Pie Pizzeria, 660 Peeksville Road, Locust Grove, scored 67/U, down from 80/B. It will be reinspected.

Among other violations, the ma - inara sauce and meatballs, which were hot and held in a crockpot, were out of temperature range and reheated. Prepared foods inside the reach-in cooler had no date markings for disposal.

The cutting board on the prep unit needed replacing. It had deep cuts and a yellow stain. Also, chemicals were on the same shelf as food and single-service items.

Employees were prepping food without wearing hair restraints, and employee drinks were on the reach-in cooler. The pizza prep uni had debris buildup inside and out. The food cart was dirty with old food debris and dust.
