When will this quarantine end?

-

How long will this quarantine last? We have been dancing it for six months. I am willing to be quarantined for all eternity if Gov. Gavin Newsom says so.

I want to go back to normal, if there is a normal. I want to ride the bus to the senior centers where I play the piano. When will social distancing end so I can hug others in church?

LIMIT SUPREME COURT SERVICE TO AGE 75

Supreme Court with lifetime appointments? Would there be any objection if we were to amend the rule and limit the job to age 75?

For the most part it would allow for better planning, retirement parties, replacement judges, etc. There should be no surprises other than the obvious early death to deal with for such a critical position in government.

GINSBURG SET AN EXAMPLE FOR EACH OF US

Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be remembered for many valid reasons. One such reason was her ability to maintain friendships with others despite their respective differences of philosophy, religion or politics. One example was her long-term friendship with Justice Antonin Scalia. Ginsburg recently quoted Scalia as saying, “I attack ideas, not people.”

She set an example we each should emulate that was articulated more than 200 years ago by Thomas Jefferson when he said, “I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.”

Our political leaders should emulate both Ginsburg and Jefferson to set an example for each of us to follow — in lieu of their current practices of unfriendly and even malicious and virulent actions we read, see, and hear every day in the media.

HOW TO HANDLE HIGH COURT NOMINATION

Now that there is a vacancy on the Supreme Court, the president of the United States has an opportunity to make history. The president should put forth his nominee for the consideration of all Americans. Most likely this nominee will be a moderate woman with excellent qualifications.

The extremists within the Democratic Party see this moment as an opportunity to initiate more violent protests and demonstrations. The president should state he will hold off on the nomination vote until after the November election. This bold action will demonstrate his confidence in his re-election and his determination to bring stability to the court.

This would also thwart the left’s desire to create a platform for more hysterical rhetoric by Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. This action would give the president the November election and ensure four more years without socialism and sky-high taxes.

CHOICE OF MUSIC SPEAKS VOLUMES

My wife and I were leaving the Coffee Road and Rosedale Highway Lowe’s parking lot Saturday when we saw a procession of Trump for president supporters driving by, in vehicles displaying American flags and flags calling for the re-election of Donald Trump for president. It was a beautiful thing to see such a large group of Americans working in unison toward a common goal in a respectful and disciplined manner. It is estimated that some 300 vehicles made up the procession.

After leaving Lowe’s, we proceeded to the Home Depot on Rosedale Highway, just north of Chuy’s Mesquite Broiler, where the rally participants were gathering. As we were walking from Home Depot to our car, a car drove through the parking lot, displaying a flag promoting Joe Biden for president, while playing their music load enough for all to hear. I am not sure what their music of choice was, but can tell you the lyrics were laced with fowl-mouthed disgusting words. Speaks volumes, don’t you think?
