BARBARA LOUISE MONROE

December 10, 1929 - December 16, 2020

-

Barbara Monroe was born December 10, 1929 to Charles and opal Dawson in Earlimart, California. She went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2020 at the age of 91 in Bakersfield, California. She was raised in Delano and graduated early from Delano High School. While at a dance at the VFW hall, her good friend, Margaret Monroe, introduced Barbara to her brother, Bill. He had just returned from the Navy. They were married in 1948 and were married for 58 years until his passing in 2006. They had three children before moving to Bakersfield as Bill was stationed here with the Kern County Fire Dept. Barbara was mostly a stay-at-home mom but worked for several years for Samuel Barnes, DPM. She enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge group for over 50 years and belonged to Beta Sigma Phi for over 60 years (Delta Omega Master). But her and Bill's favorite pass time was camping and traveling. They camped all over the U.S. and cruised to several countries.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents and her four brothers, Charles, Kenneth, Wayne and Bruce.

She leaves behind her children, Connie (Jim) Resseguie, Kathy Monroe and her companion, Storm, and Larry (Margo) Monroe. Her five grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Pardini, Christopher (Patsy) Resseguie, Cari Molina, Marissa (Brian) Curtis and Timothy (Kati) Monroe and seven great grandchildren: Gunner, Danica, Tiana, Alyssa, Aden, Jonah and Baby Monroe and several nieces and nephews.

She will be greatly missed by her entire family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time when travel is easier.
