Doris Adeline Nikkel (Kliewer) the eldest of 6 children was born May 3, 1926 in Bakersfield to Aron and Flora Kliewer. Doris entered God's paradise January 1, 2021.

On September 12, 1946, Doris married the love of her life, Clarence Nikkel. They were a couple who were devoted to each other through the good as well as the difficult times that life gave them. Together they always trusted God's divine plan for them. They were blessed with 4 children and were together for over 70 years until Clarence's passing in 2017.

Doris was a devoted wife and mother as well as an ardent homemaker with many talents. Her talents included sewing, crocheting, gardening and cooking. She also could play the piano and the accordion with amazing skill. She and Clarence played many accordion duets at the Rosedale Mennonite Brethren Church which they were members of their entire lives.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, her eldest daughter, Sharon Long, her grandson Richard Long, brothers Aron and Rueben Kliewer, and sisters, Eleanor Unruh, and Arlene Nikkel. She is survived by her children, Stanley Nikkel, Marcia Giumarra (George), and Marion Molhook, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and brother James Kliewer.

Doris will be missed by all who knew and loved her here on earth. However she is now rejoicing in heaven and we rejoice with her.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Pacifica Memory Care for their compassionate, tender, loving care of Doris during the last four years of her life.

A graveside service is planned for January 14 at 11:00 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, attendance is limited to family only.
