KCSO seeks info in suspected murder of teen
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a suspected homicide of a 16-year-old girl.
According to a KCSO news release, deputies from the Lamont Substation were dispatched to the intersection of Buena Vista Boulevard and Tower Line Road the morning of March 6 regarding a report of a body in an orchard. Upon arrival they located 16-year-old Marya Neufeld, dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.
Homicide detectives believe that Neufeld was in the areas of east Bakersfield and Arvin the day before her death.

The Bakersfield Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying two suspects accused of a business burglary that occurred at around 10 p.m. March 14 in the 3600 block of North Sillect Avenue.
In a news release, the BPD
described one of the suspects as a white or Hispanic man in his 20s, with curly black hair, wearing a camouflage hooded sweatshirt with dark pants and black flip flops.
The BPD described the other suspect as a Black man in his 20s, with a beard, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the words “no limit” on the front. He was also wearing tan pants.

The Bakersfield Police Department is requesting
community assistance identifying a suspect involved in a bicycle theft that occurred Feb. 17 at the GET bus station located at 2129 Chester Ave.
The BPD described the suspect as a Hispanic man, 30 to 35 years old, between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet tall and weighing 235 pounds. He has black hair and was wearing a light-colored plaid shirt, jeans, with black-and-white shoes and a gray backpack, police said.

Kern County Sheriff’s deputies from the Wasco Substation arrested two men who were allegedly attempting to rob a business in the 1500 block of Highway 46 on Thursday.
According to a KCSO news release, deputies were dispatched to the area at around 6:50 a.m. for a burglary in progress. They located and detained 24-year-old Shawn Hasty and 25-year-old Christopher Rodriguez inside the
business, the news release stated.
Hasty was arrested and booked into Kern County Jail on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, vandalism, burglary during a state of emergency and possession of burglary tools, the KCSO said.
Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail on suspicion of burglary, vandalism, unlawful possession of tear gas, conspiracy, burglary during a state of emergency, possession of a controlled
substance and possession of burglary tools, the news release stated.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Facebook Live event to provide insight into career opportunities.
The department said in a news release that it’s continuously hiring detentions deputies
and is offering a $10,000 hiring bonus.
Two senior detentions deputies will be on hand during the event to answer questions about working in a detentions facility. Anyone with an interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement is invited to participate.
The event will be hosted on KCSO’s Facebook page at 4:30 p.m. April 1.
